SUMMER CONCERTS ON HISTORIC GOVERNORS ISLAND.
The Highline Ballroom is proud to announce the creation of The Governors Island Concert Series, the inaugural edition of a rain-or-shine, all-ages music series on beautiful Governors Island, located only 800 yards off of Lower Manhattan. The Governors Island Concert Series (hereafter referred to as The GICS) is a groundbreaking event: one of the first-ever large-scale performance events to take place on historic Governors Island.
Currently announced shows for The GICS include a Sunday, June 15 performance with jam band superstars moe., a Friday, July 11 evening with Grateful Dead aficionados Dark Star Orchestra (with special guests TBA), and a Saturday, August 23 show with Irish folk-rockers The Saw Doctors.
In an effort to maintain the natural beauty of Governors Island, Highline Presents is taking numerous steps to reduce our impact on the environment: Beer will be served in biodegradable cups, all glass and plastic produced at the festival will be recycled, a water bottle exchange will allow patrons to redeem empty bottles for full ones, and all shows will be accessible (both to the public and crew) only by mass transit.
